1969 Chevelle SS396 post car. Owner said it was an L78 (that’s the top dog* 375HP engine for those unfamiliar with GM’s RPO codes) which, being a post car, makes it extremely rare. 1 of 6 in this silver, he said, but I’ve never been much into numbers.
Also, my friend with the Ranchero? His younger brother just bought this. 1998 GT 5 speed. It needs some love but it runs and drives, and sounds good. Supposedly has aftermarket cams, a Cobra MAF, and some other things. It needs a tune bad, and a throwout bearing. It looks a bit better in the pictures to be honest. The C pillars have heavy glue from where it had window covers on it (The Eleanor/GT500 style).
*except the L89 which was the same engine but with aluminum heads

Any SS396 post car is very rare. I’ve never seen one. It’s not a Malibu, either. It’s a 300.
Post cars aren’t my cup of tea, but if you’re a drag racer, it’s the way to go.

Indeed a 300.
I just think they look better, and my grandfather used to have a ‘68 post car (not a 396 of course- I6 Powerglide car, but he did put a rowdy little 350 or 355 since I believe it was bored slightly and a 4 speed in it) back in the day and I still have the engine and trans out of it. I’d love to get another but we’ve got enough on our plate haha

Good choice taking those window covers off! Shouldn’t be too hard to remove that remaining adhesive .

It has been a royal pain and Google led us wrong. This should probably be basic knowledge, but rubbing alcohol+paint= no bueno.

I’ve had good luck with citrus-based removers, but I’ve also heard good things about those eraser wheels that you chuck into a drill. More than one way to skin a cat!

Oh crap why didn’t I think of that. The big issue was there was big globs of the stuff. The previous owner(s?) was/were none too bright.

I always liked the open look of hardtops. Just a personal preference. But of course a Post car is lighter.
That 68 must have been a lot of fun with a 350/4 speed. Someday you'll find a good home for that motor.

I’m going to be taking some vinyl trim off the Volvo soon and that’s what everyone recommends. Takes the vinyl and adhesive off all in one go.

Go o gone works great, any citrus based product should be fine . Used it to remove the dealer decal on my ZR2, no damage to the paint.

I’ll have to remember that.

Everything I’ve heard him say says it was a wicked little car.
For the most part I prefer hardtops. It’s really just the 68-69 Chevelle and 62 -65 Fairlane, and most 50s GMs I prefer in post form. And the 52-54 Fords.
I guess I like more post cars than I realized lol.

I bet it was!
I can’t think of a car where I like the post version better. I’m a sucker for hardtops. And convertibles.

To each their own. I don’t mean to offend, but I can’t stand verts for the most part. I think the only three I’d really want are the 200 3-20 09 Vipers (childhood dream car), Ferrari 360, and the Ferrari 250 California. Other than that, hard top and post thank you

None taken! Convertibles have a lot of negative trade offs to get some sunshine. They’re love or hate, I think.
